The Cocoa Chocolate sector is one of the most complex sectors in the world. With over 4 million smallholder cocoa farmers producing over 4,000,000 Metric tons of cocoa beans a year, their national governments receive less than $10b from an industry worth over $130bn. I mentioned Countries, not the cocoa farmers because, in Ghana, the farmer receives an estimated 65% of the world market price and even less than 1% in the 1950s.

As a cocoa farmer’s son who has broken the mould to not only gain a bachelor’s degree but a master’s degree in International Development-Globalisation Trade and industry, and an MBA, with work experience within the cocoa sector, I have decided to pull my lived experiences, resources and knowledge together to provide novel analysis on the issues happening within the cocoa-chocolate sector. I am here to learn as well so do challenge me if you find anything you disagree with.

Subscribing to my substack would mean supporting me to put out there the heterodox and unconventional analysis that stakeholders within the sector have either not released or have not thought about. I am very unconventional. I am not an activist. I am reasonable and wants all the stakeholders in the industry to succeed. Consider sharing with your friends and family to support me by making a paid subscription.
